I just read one of the Ask a Sleep Surgeon questions talking about a UPPP that made the sleep apnea worse. It is question 48. Here is a link if you want to read it.

May not happen to the majority of UPPP's just something to consider if the surgeon is has a reputation of agressive removal of tissue.
