I used the word in my post instead of the number, but my AHI was 1, and I think that was rounded up. I don't disagree with the results of that test, but I don't think it was a good representation of my normal night. I don't think it will take much to get me to that permanent cure. I don't think I could have a perfect test and not be close to being cured. I think that I simply have a large tongue that has found it easier to fall back after a period of adjustment. For me, it wasn't the air from CPAP causing me a problem, it was the mask, hose and noise. I just can't tolerate having it on. It worked for me while I actually slept, but I could sleep with it. I will try a few more things if possible before I go back to CPAP. I still have some options and until I run out of those, I'm staying away from CPAP. I do think that my airway is more sensitive to weight gain than may be normal. I wasn't overly heavy prior to MMA and I'm still not back to that pre-surgery weight. I am starting to believe that even though I don't carry significant fat around my neck, it may just be that I don't need the same amount that others may need to cause them a problem. I am going to go on a diet so that I am doing something while I wait for the medical options to unfold. I fully realize that I may never have a complete cure, but at the end of the day, I want to tell myself that I tried everything I could without causing myself other major physical problems due to surgery.
