Hard to say why you did better. Sometimes there can be a placebo effect. I am the only one in my family as well. Sucks.. The reason why I wouldn't necessarily do the UP3 is because it can cause problems following an MMA (in addition to the fact it is rarely a long term cure). It can lead to hypernasal speach from pharyngeal insufficiency.
