Dear SomeDudeinCali: Here are my thoughts on your questions about UPPP.
1. I couldn't tolerate the CPAP, despite several tries--that is why I turned to surgery, at the urging of 3 of my doctors. My apnea seems better to me (I have vivid dreams now) but I have to admit that I have not had a followup sleep study.
2. Yes, I had so many problems following surgery in 2005 that I definitely regret having had the procedure. I wish I could have tolerated the CPAP.
3. I still have problems swallowing (I have scar tissue) and I lost my singing voice, especially the upper register. If you are a singer, please think twice before having a UPPP!After my UPPP I no longer consider surgery for anything...so I'll just live with the deviated septum.
