I am having my MMA with Dr. LW in Dallas on February 24,
2009. I could have gone to anyone and I chose him. I had all of
the other procedures done and they did almost nothing for me.
LW said that he used to do them as well but he stopped because
they don't really help. He said I have a small risk of having nasal
speech from the previous UP3. So I think you will be saving
time, money and potential risk of other procedures. LW has
done more MMA's than probably anyone else in the country. BUt
I am not sure he is any less expensive than the others. I am
having the MMA, septoplasty, turbinate reduction and the
surgical fee is about $30,000.

I will have posted my results prior to you having your surgery
with him so I will let you know how it goes.

Regarding the orthodontic work- most people need braces
before the MMA. And how long it is depends on the type of
occlusion you have. I have a type 2 occlusion, which is normal.
So I only needed braces for a few months before. Some need it
up to 18 months before surgery. Some surgeons don't do the
orthodontic work before and that can lead to problems following
surgery.

Good luck with your consult. My personal feeling is you are
going to the best.
