YES

However, like many people my situation is complex and deserves a bit of explanation. I'm one year post-op and it's still hard to judge what role the MMA has played in my battle against sleep apnea. According to the x-rays and CT scans, the MMA made a large improvement in my airway. But according to my sleep studies it did not improve my apnea. After the MMA, I found out I have "complex apnea" which means I have a neurological problem regulating my breathing, and this is contributing to my apnea. So I'm working on getting that under control. I also have a very low-hanging soft pallet which the MMA did not address. It may be collapsing and obstructing, so I may have to have surgery for that in the future.

I had a very small jaw structure pre-MMA, and I am convinced that the MMA was a necessary step in my treatment. If I could go back in time and make the choice again, I would still choose to do the MMA. The only thing I would do differently would be to try to get more advancement of my lower jaw. It was advanced 15mm but I think it needed more like 18 or 20mm.
