Due to an auto accident in 1963 I have a damaged brain stem which resulted in severe central nervous system sleep apnea. This was not diagnosed til 1990 when I developed obstructive sleep apnea.

Treatment for mixed apnea started in 1994 after my heart, lungs and kidneys were destroyed.

I had an emergency trach (which I still have) am on a vent with added oxygen and a heated humidifier, all attached to the trach.

There have been no further sleep problems since using the vent in 1994.

I only advocate the trach as a last resort but it was the only way for me to return to better health.
