hi Dirtywater, thank you so much for all this info, lots to read and re-read.
One question for now, melatonin - I've never tried it but thought about it - the problem is I've heard that if you take it too often, your own brain makes less of it. And even people who recommend it say not to take it all the time.

my own situation includes frequently feeling awful while trying to get to sleep, taking a long while to fall asleep, and then obstructive apnea kicks in once asleep.
