Sorry to hear about your troubles. You are obviously in a much more severe predicament than I am. I'm glad to hear the trach and the vent are working out for you. What kind of vent is it? Is it a BiPAP, ASV-PAP, or some other type?

I fell off a table and landed on my head when I was an infant... I landed hard enough to cause a minor fracture in my skull. I sometimes wonder if this is the cause of my neurological problem. But it's kind of pointless for me to speculate because it happened so long ago. My sleep doctor thinks I was probably just born this way.

The brain is such a fascinating thing. I am confident that someday we'll have the technology to be able to fix neurological defects like this. Maybe not in our lifetimes, but I think it will eventually happen.
