I certainly agree. There is variability in scarring, healing, recovery...etc. The mucosa in the oropharynx also reacts differently in terms of healing/scarring than the skin. As I mentioned before, the mucosa is very delicate and thin. If you use high heat such as laser, it will induce significant amount of scarring. Additionally, when there is too much tissue removal during UPPP, although the wound is sutured during the operation, it opens up after the operation. The raw wound heals by producing lots of scar tissues and can result in stenosis as well as the other side effects.
