Not that it can't be improved a bit, but can't get a home run in the correction. There are many factors. When there is a lot of scarring, the airway narrows and it is difficult to make it larger with soft tissue surgery alone-remember OJ's glove? Sometimes you can use mucosal grafts to "resurface" the lining but the results are not great because we have to swallow, and the swallowing action creates movement so the grafts do not take very well-it is unlike the area of the skin where it can be immobilized. There are just too many factors to make the correction of stenosis difficult.
