Hi Gremlin:
I am still undecided about the UPPP. I hate not doing it with the MMA so that I have only one recovery period, you know to get everything over with at once. I have had 6 ents tell me that I need the UPPP. And yes Dr. LW (Dallas, TX) is doing my surgery. He will do his version of the UPPP. He will also do the MMA and my mandibular will be cut in two places, one cut will be towards the end of my chin to give my tongue room. Also my left jaw joint needs to be stabalized. Dr. LW is the only Dr. out of the many that I have seen that caught this problem and it is very evident on the x-rays (once it was pointed out to me). My ortho saw it on his xrays too and brought it to my attention. I feel very good about Dr. LW. His staff was excellent. Dr. LW had a two hr. consult with me and my fiance and was so wonderful. Thanks to you and Brian I have been able to relax some since I have been to see Dr. LW cause I have that intuitive feeling that he will take very good care of me. I have seen 6 ent's and 5 oral and maxiollfacial surgeons before Dr. LW and believe me I was unsettled and had many unanswered questions. As I mentioned in a blog to Captain, I am able to avoid the SARPE procedure since I have been to visit with Dr. LW. He sent me to this ortho in Houston (Dr.LA he specializes in braces for people that are having jaw surgeries)that will use Damon system braces that actually helps to expand the palate. Thanks for writing, Silvergirl
