UPPP or MMA?

For you who have been through this road, is it to precipitate going strait to MMA?

The options presented to me by two different and very well renown Doctors where the same: UPPP with tongue advancement or MMA.
I gathered information and my heart was set on the MMA, but now I got the date set for April 13 and my husband is freaking out a little, he is worried about the complexity of the surgery, about the changes in my face and thinks I should go for the UPPP first and then “work hard to get better”.

I just don’t se the point of doing the UPPP and having a much bigger chance of having to go back to surgery. And from the pictures I have seen, the change in my face is nothing compared to the idea of continuing this struggle for I don’t know how long.

I’m in desperate need of a sincere opinion and I think this is the best place to seek it. After years of suffering with fatigue and EDS, a mistaken narcolepsy diagnosis, several unsuccessful prescription drugs and CPAP not working, finally Sleep Apnea surgery seems like a light at the end of the tunnel.
