Spizza, I have been fighting with Blu Cross,DOUBLE Cross for years of and on, as I too require MMA, (for me , another one, actually) and it will have to be by Dr LW at Baylor since it is a redo. I have explained the problem spending hours on the fone with differing fools at BCBS. I have heard of "Gap Exclusion Coverage" that is supposed to kick in when the in network docs cant do the surgery, but NO ONE at BcBS ever heard of it. I even tried to get an attorney, the one that Dr LW's staff recommends, but she only called me back once after I tried for 2 months to get her. So i gave up. Sorry to say, Im just going to pay the $ and hope for the best, perhaps suing them later If i have the post op energy. I sure dont have the energy to do anything now, and it is difficult for me to talk (from the previous bothced MMA), so i give up. Wish I had better news...maybe try to research the Gap exclusion concept. Another on this board did get his surg using this concept.
