Silvergirl,
I got a prescription for Provigil from my primary doctor 3 days ago. The pills I got were 200 mg and the recommended dosage is anywhere from 100 to 400. The first day I took one 200 mg pill in the morning. If anything it seemed to have a paradoxical effect on me and made me feel sleepier and drugged up.
Not willing to give up so quickly, the next day (yesterday) I took 2 pills 400 mg. I definately felt an effect. Though I had slight "twinges" of the usual fatigue, I felt much more alert.
Unfortunately I did not have a good day. Because of various incidents, I ended up rushing around a lot, got very stressed, and made the mistake of taking 2 Excedrin (caffeine!) for a sore back. This did not go well with the Provigil! My heart rate skyrocketed up to near 100 bpm (around 75-78) is normal for me, and it took me forever to calm down.
Because it was a bad day, I'm going to repeat that dosage on Monday. No caffeine and hopefully no unforeseen problems. I'm also going to keep experimenting with the dosages. I've heard people say that less is more when it comes to the stuff, so I'm going to try taking 100 mg in the morning and 100 mg later.
I'll try and let you know what happens!
