Responding to techgeek... the trach was intended as temporary and reccommended for a number of reasons. First, to provide immediate improvement of O2 saturation during sleep, I cant handle CPAP. Second, to ensure I would be able to breathe while recovering from the various surgeries. Goal was that ultimatley, surgeries would solve problem and trach would be removed. Hope that helps
