I appreciate your responses to my questions!!! I have yet another... I had my two week follow-up on Wednesday and had the bands cut that held my teeth/jaws together. My surgeon told me that I could take some time to brush my teeth before he put on the four rubber bands to secure my jaw for the next couple weeks. But I could barely open my mouth, not even enough to fit a straw in (which I was hoping for because putting the syringe tube in the side of my mouth for feedings is making the insides of my cheeks sore!). He said this is normal and that in time I will be able to open more and more. My questions are: 1. how much time did it take you to be able to open your mouth after your MMA? 2. how gradual of a process was it? I think I am concerned because I have arthritis in my jaw joint and wonder if that makes a difference.
