You will have to wait a long time. Even when they take the elastic bands off, you will find that you cannot open your jaws.

I remember the day they took mine off. I was so happy that I would be able to eat solid food again, and I went right down to buy a piece of pizza. I quickly found out that that was just not possible. Couldn't even open my mough enough to fit a piece of pizza in.
