Posted by sleepyguy on May 27, 2009 at 14:23:33:I have struggled with apnea for almost 10 years. The first sleep study AHI was 31 and the oxygen was 88%. I tried CPAP for about 2 months but just cannot get used to it. I did not do anything for about 5 years and the apnea got much worse. My second sleep study AHI was 51 and the oxygen was 85%. I just did not want to use CPAP so I went and saw Drs. RP. I was recommended to have their phase I surgery. I had the surgery 3 years ago. The AHI was 49 and the oxygen was 83% afterwards. I am now at a point that I must do something more and I was told MMA is the answer. I met with them three times to talk about MMA and thought I was ready to go ahead. The problem is that I received a notice from my ear doctor last week informing patients that Dr. RP are joining his practice. I found out from his staff that the doctors sold their practice and are planning to retire and their associates are taking over. Should I be concerned with lingering problems from MMA down the road? Is it important for the surgeons that did the surgery to take care of you if problems arise or can other people take care of you just as well? Thank you all so much.
