So after a bad month, I am doing a lot better. The drainage is much better. My surgeon had started me on Klonipin after the surgery to reduce the grinding of my teeth. I had been on that for about 2 1/2 months and although I slept like a baby- i think it was making me tired during the day. And I think that fatigue made me think the apnea was not improved so I became very anxious and depressed and that created a vicious cycle. So I am off of that and feeling better. I don't think I would have taken that again for more than a couple of weeks. I am not sure if that really makes a difference post-op or is more of a theoretical benefit.

The only real issue I have now is my sleep cycle. I wake up at 5 am every morning and struggle to fall back asleep. Has anyone had issues like that after surgery?

My main point for writing this post was to emphasize the long term recovery of the surgery. I am feeling better each day and I was not feeling great except for a week or two here or there until recently. There are many reasons to not feel well for a while after the surgery. I was scared to death that the advancement was not enough. And I am still a little weary of that. I think I would have like a little more but so far it seems ok. I will have my sleep study in few more weeks.

Brian
