Silvergirl,

I am doing well. On days when I get enough sleep, I am feeling well rested. I often wake up after only 4-5 hours of sleep for some reason. Not sure why. But even on those days, I am much better than before. I can go to the gym as much as i like.

I don't have any real complications of surgery. I have some post-nasal drainage which is mild. Numbness is minimal.

My insurance only paid $3000. My fee was actually $32,000 . So it sounds like you are getting a better deal than me. And my father and knew each other well!!!! I got a 5% professional discount so that dropped it down to about 30,000.

I didn't do it, but I would consider a second opinion. I, too, have a lot of respect for Dr. KL. I would have liked to have known what his feeling was as far as how far to advance the jaw. I know he does not to the TMJ joints like Dr. LW does. LW is very aggessive with that and not everyone agrees. LW has data to back up why he does the TMJ joints the way he does. And he has the skill to do both. There are not many who can do both with that skill level. So if his data is accurate according to the studies he has done (which is hard to know because the doctors doing the study interpret the data and one can never really understand it the way they can), then you should have less risk of relapse. And I think the best answer to that is talking to enough of his former patients who have had both procedures. I don't think I was moved as far forward as maybe Dr. KL would have. I think only time will tell if it was enough. But for now I am happy and look a bit better than before (I had a mildly recessed jaw). I would have had to choose who to go to but the results are good, so no complaints.

Hang in there.

Brian
