My family is not understanding why I want to go through with MMA surgery. Is this common for everyone? I don't believe they view sleep apnea as serious enough to merit what they call a "horrible" procedure. Meanwhile, I am terrified of it. Still, I keep leaning toward feeling that a sacrifice now will lead to the greater good, better quality of life for the rest of my life. But anything could go wrong in the surgery to jeopardize that quality.

I wonder if others have processed all these thoughts.
