Becky, All i can say is that , counter to what a osa sufferer should take, I have had some success with alprazalam. It is generic zanax. It can make for a strong apnea headache, but is worth it, because I usually feel like Ive dissappeared for awhile. Thats what sleep should do! I have always been a light sleeper, worrier, type-a and when I hit age 38, it became debilitating to have osa AND super light sleep with waking after 3-4 hours. After my failed mma in 2001, I quit working in half and knew it would take some 15 hour days in bed to ever cope. Those are the days where I sleep my "normal" amount , say 5-7 hours, then just give up and sleep another 4-8 hours. At least I can lift weights, do chores after that. I really wonder how much of it is mental for me, if i know there is something I have to do the next day, it will worry me so much I may not sleep more than 3-4 hours. Ive posted about my light sleep tendency and some weird syndrome that makes me want to yawn, but then cant, to no avail. I always wonder how much light sleep is my problem. I suspect that the cycle that Sandman just explained plays out in my case. Simply, the brain keeps the sleep in the 1-3 stages to look after its oxygen supply...sound right? Sandman?
