I know how redundant and trite what I'm about to say will be,
but I can't start any other way. This myriad of painful, odd, and
foreign sensations can't be considered permanent just yet. I am
now 27 months post MMA, and there are still residual issues
which pale in the face of my overall improvement. As you know,
I did have the uvula trim at 6 months post MMA; and that issue
is completely resolved. Others are there to a lesser degree, and
clearly there are some to which I'm now habituated. Some of
the quirks that I have experienced have also been labeled "not
usual." I'm sure that this comment is true just as I also believe
that the more people who undergo this procedure, the more we
will discover symptoms which fall outside the norm.

Of course it's important to stay in touch with your surgeon and
report what you're experiencing. I would think that you could
do well to take stock at six months, nine months, etc. and think
about your progress in larger increments. This recovering is the
longest process I've ever experienced. There I was at the second
MMA get together exchanging stories only to notice that even at
this late date I was still feeling some nerve healing.
