The issue about the right is very interesting to me. A few years ago, I lived in Japan when first diagnosed. I flew to see Dr. Li and was able to get Dr. Li to state in writing that MMA would be the best treatment for me. Once I did that, I was able to go back to Canada and get treatment. I know that with Dr. Li's opinion, I had nothing whatsoever to fear. The reason is that The Canada Health Act says that every Canadian is legally entitled to "Whatever is medically necessary". That is the law. There is no two ways about it; no negotiating with anybody. The government would never fight to have my MMA refused. Even if they wanted to, which they never would, how could they possibly do it? Again, the act states: "Whatever is medically necessary". Those are very broad and powerful words if you think about it. I truly believe that that kind of protection would benefit you. When things are clearly and legally defined as your "right", rather than your priviledge, you are on a much more stable footing. You can sleep better at night (no pun intended).
