I have noticed for years that my throat immediately shuts off if Im not concentrating to hold it open. I had a failed mma in 2001, and still have the immediate shut off. I actually tried to form a mouth guard that would hold my lower jaw forward as I notice that the airway DOES open when lower jaw is held like 10mm forward. Well, that's exactly what that device on tv is . A mouthpiece that you form that holds jaw forward. I ordered the device and the most amazing thing is that I almost immeditely get into dreaming. typically,otherwise I almost have no dreams, and sleep study shows no stage 4 sleep and low sleep efficiency. That said, I dont feel that much more rested after using it. But, I cant tolerate it more than about 3 hours...it hurts teeth alot.
I remember this exact feeling at one of my sleep studies where I slept the most. The dreams were there and I felt different , but coudnt wait to get home to sleep the rest of the day. The device has proven my need for relief from osa. I dont know why i dont feel that much better. Just like when i tried cpap. It is changing something, but I just wake after 3 hours and cant go back to sleep.
