overbite) and *then* put you in braces to "fine tune" everything?

I ask because I *wish* that's what they would have done for me 12 years before my MMA surgery.
I had a very bad overbite (and quite a significant chin deficit) and needed braces badly. If they would have advanced my lower jaw forward before putting me in braces back then, I possibly might have been able to avoid the later MMA surgery all together. I guess I will never know for sure and this is just my experience/opinion.
I'm sure your MMA surgeon will know what's best for you.

By the way, I have braces again (third time) and they cost $7,200. I paid $400 extra for the 6 "clear" bands on the top front.
