I don't think there is any reason to be concerned. First, everyone goes to ICU after MMA, mainly for that reason (Surgeons correct me if I'm wrong here). They pay a lot of attention to your airway and o2.

Second, the surgeon would not have selected you as an MMA candidate if he/she did not think they could handle your specific issues.

That's my take on it, but I'm not a Dr.
