The sleep hygiene thing is severely UNDERestimated. It's not that bad hygiene was the cause of bad sleep, but it is an effect of the apnea. The problem is that we form habits that are hard to break. I've seen several people who got their apnea fixed yet kept their old sleep schedule, which was crazy of course. You know, like only allocating 6 hours for sleep, moving schedule all over the place, etc.

Humans really need a min of 8hrs. We are designed to sleep along with the sun cycle. It makes all the sense in the world.

You're just gonna have to force the issue and develop different habits.

Always go to bed within 30 min of the previous night. Do not oversleep on the weekend. If you have to do that, then you are depriving yourself of sleep during the week.

Cut the caffeine. I mean really, do humans HAVE to have a stimulant to survive? The answer is no.

NO light in the bedroom. Especially blue LEDs. If you have an LED clock, get Red. When you go potty at night, don't turn on the light.

If you sleep with your pet, they are probably waking you several times at night. Rethink this.

Stuff like that. It makes a difference.
