Doctors/Specialists - no solution

Considering I cannot rely on medical science to help me, I was hoping maybe someone on this forum can point me in the right direction or offer advice.

In a recent visit to a sleep specialist I was told I fell just under what they consider to be sleep apnea. This was from results of a repeat test done 10 years after my first which lead to the diagnosis of (light) sleep apnea. I am still not getting a good night's sleep and the specialist said something like "the science just isn't there to help you".

I sleep either on the side or face-down-head-to-side. The outcome of the recent sleep study suggested CPAP isn't helping. The machine basically was idling all night without any signs of 'ramping up' pressure. With this in mind I sold the unit and have been sleeping a bit better without.

I wake often during the night to go to the toilet. Having discussed this with the doctor I had the prostate checked out and was given the 'all clear' for any problems there.

The problem I have is, getting a good night's sleep has become increasingly random. I am currently out of work but have been unable to consider any full-time work due to this problem. In hind-sight, every full time job resulted in the same problem; gradually getting tired, brain fog, unable to function, trying to 'prop myself up' with strong doses of caffeine.

I have a follow-up visit to the doctors next week and was hoping to maybe suggest something so he doesn't just blankly look at me and say 'sorry, there's nothing I can do'.

Any constructive suggestions/comments would be appreciated.
