I hope I did not mislead you, I did not have the same surgery as you. There was no time for that. I had an emergency trach (they said "trach or die" and I still have it 16 years later.

It took no second thought, we just did it.

I have had no colds for many years but I would say I may get an infection in the sinus about once or twice each year, some years none at all. I see no reason for it to start.

I am untrained in this but I was raised on the New Jersey shore and I would consider your trip to the ocean could produce this.

As I said, my Pulmo Doc has an open script at the pharmacy for 10 days of Cipro in case I get an infection. That clears it up every time.

I would look for a simple solution and not go too deeply for help. I would think your Family Doctor could give you a script for something if he thinks it would help. Cipro is good for me.

Good luck, I know how much that pain can hurt.
