Hi Pedals,

I have been following you and your blog very closely. I am in a similar situation as yourself, low RDI of 14 with many flow limitations as diagnosed by Stanford. Tried CPAP at highest pressure setting, 2 oral appliances with some but not significant improvement. I was suffering from sleepiness, extreme exhaustion and fatigue. Desperate, I finally had the MMA this past January with Dr. Li. Fortunately the recovery went smoothly with no problems. I experienced improvement in sleep initially but then regressed somewhat after a few months which made me scared and depressed. I noticed my sleep became much worse when exposed to environmental irritants such as perfume, smoke etc. I asked my doctor for an Advair and Singulair prescription for asthma. These drugs helped TREMENDOUSLY - especially the Advair. I heard that many people with UARS/OSA have concomitant asthma - you may not even know you have it. The inflamed airways due to asthma cause a vacuum effect in your airways which makes it more susceptible to collapsing (this is just my theory). I know Biam2009 felt only slightly improved after mma but once he treated the allergies he didn't even know he had he felt significantly improved. Anyways, you may just want to give it a shot. I will do a follow-up sleep study next month and will visit Dr. Li. Although I feel much better, I may have to go back to cpap (albeit at a lower pressure). Or need further surgeries.
