Hello, It is perfectly normal to be hesitant to get the MMA. I had it done 3 years ago in philadelphia. The dr was great and does alot of these. The recovery was rough even though I read alot of posts about it, but I was still unprepared. The pain is not bad but it was all the other stuff. From not eating I lost 20 pounds in the first week, And doing anything made me tired quickly. Looking back on it, I should have forced myself to eat more. It was all the side effects that made it along recovery. I was wired shut for 6 weeks. I am normal weight and was 28 at the time. I had severe apnea, and just could not go on like I was. I am still numb for about 2" of my bottom lip to my chin. I was told that could happen. And when I eat steak or meat and it is tough, my jaw gets sore. So I order or make prime rib, not a big deal. Without my wife and father, I could not have done it. So make sure you have someone to take care of you for at least 3-4 weeks. So would I do it again? In a heartbeat. I feel great and never in my life have I felt this way. It has helped with my depression and overall concentration. I can spend more time with my kids and enjoy it without thinking of taking a nap. Good Luck If I can help in anyway, don't hesitate to contact me.
