You are in the hands of a great surgeon. MMA surgery success is highly dependent on the skill of the surgeon. I was in the same situation as you about this time last year - oral appliance ineffective, cpap ineffective. I was really DESPERATE and at the end of the rope. My whole life was gradually destroyed by this disorder. I was fortunate enough to have the MMA in Jan. 2010. The surgery went really well and the recovery wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. My facial changes were negligible and I feeling has slowly returned. I feel significantly improved >50% subjective improvement but unfortunately I still have OSA. CPAP is now working better so I'm counting my blessings. Did you check out people's MMA recovery blogs? There are links to blogs at the top of the non-cpap options message boards page. Also, did you check out the patient experiences section on MMA surgery on Dr. Li's website? They're both very informative.
