Hello. Many of us have been where you are. One thing that should help to know is that a good surgeon like Dr Li will not offer you MMA/BiMax if you are not a good candidate. So, he must think he can help you, that should be reassuring.
As for numbness, I'm going to suggest that you plan on having permanent numbness somewhere, probably somewhere on the chin, may on the roof of your mouth, etc. It's sort of an issue of expectations.
I think you will be hard pressed to find many people who have had MMA from a reputable surgeon who thinks they did the wrong thing. Even the ones that are not completely cured are better enough that the surgery is worth it.
In 2 weeks, check back in when you're in the pre-op panic stage and we will walk ya through it :)
