Hi spizza!
I found I had an infection in my right lower jaw area. I didn't
have sharp pain. One day (~2 mos post MMA), I felt a low level
sore pain (similar to a bruise) in the a spot where the pin was. I
called the office and they had me come in. Immediately, they
determined I had an infection and tried several ways to try and
resolve the infection. When that didn't work, it was decided the
pin/plate had to come out.
My recovery was a LOT easier than the MMA. My lower jaw got
really swollen on the right side and it was similar to getting my
wisdom teeth out. It was "chipmonk" cheeks deja-vu! But
the incision inside the mouth was the same as getting the MMA,
so it was very tender. I had to be careful, and eat/drink on the
opposite side for about a week. The procedure itself was
under an hour and I was home 3 hours after the surgery started.
Work-wise, I only took off the day of the surgery and worked
from home a few days.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!
