Hi

I have had a heck of a time with my UARS.From getting diagnosed in 1998 ("It took me 3 years and 6 specialist"!)

I was given a basic cpap at the time just a blower with a ramp setting cost me over $2400.00 and I had to pay as Insurance did not cover UARS at the time! Even this day and age it is still tough but at least they have the RDI!

After failing to get good sleep with basic cpap!I spent another three years fighting Insurance Company to approve surgery! I had a UPPPs,GA,HM,and Nasal Surgery.Plus I had lost about 22 pounds ("I was about 45 at the time!")

But as time when on the Surgery did produce any long term help! Now in 2010 I was finally retested by my Local VA clinic after waiting almost a year for a Polysomnograph! They issued me another standard cpap except it has the Cee/A flex! They told me I needed 7" CM H2O for my problem, even though I did not have any REM sleep!
I tried it for about a month, and I did not get any refreshing sleep out of it except for two nights! Then upon going back to VA the Doctor raised the pressure to 8" CM H2O! Still I did not get any real benefit after another six weeks,I pretty give up on the VA! I then ecause of frustration with them found A new CPAP on Craigslist for $250.00 (Its a Auto CPAP!)Long story short I'm running it at 13" to 17" CM H2O! It has helped me get some needed rest, but it still can vary from night to on the amount of refreshing sleep I'm getting from say 35% to maybe 60% refreshing! I also have found that using a Aussie heated cpap tube, along with a Fisher Paykel Humdifier, and my Auto Cpap Respironics DS550HS. I prefer not to use the ramp,or the flex features.I'm still looking to possibly try a Bipap in the future as I have read that a Doctor had experimented on himself with one and gets better sleep!
