I think the main issue is that the nerves are not working completely for several weeks (maybe months and some never) and you can't rely on the pain response to modulate your activity.

For the first 4 weeks, I strongly suggest against anything that jostles you around since bone fusion is a high priority.

In the first month your energy level will be very limited. You'll feel fine at 4 weeks but after a few hundred feet of walking you will need to rest. Of course this varies.

Anyway, I suggest only slow walking for a couple of weeks, then try to push the distance as you build stamina. Maybe some gentle jogging at 6 weeks. Let your bod do its stuff.
