Worried over upcoming MMA

Hi all,

Lots of good information on this forum. Helps lessen my concerns over a upcoming MMA procedure, but...

I've had sleep apnea as long as I can remember. About 9 years ago I had a sleep study and was put on CPAP. I never could adjust to wearing it. About 3 years ago I had the UPPP and GA surgery. A sleep study about 1 year after the surgery showed no improvement at all, if anything, my sleep apnea got worse. My AHI was 88.7 and oxygen level was at 76%. A BIPAP was recommended at a pressure of 20 cm. of water pressure. Even at this setting my AHI was still over 20. As with my early experiences with CPAP, I couldn't adjust to this either (it was like having a pressure washer attached to your face). So, here we are at the MMA option. My surgeon, who is local, was highly recommended by the director of the sleep center, one of the largest in the state. I'm meeting with him again tomorrow morning to schedule the surgery and ask more questions (I've already seen him once where many x-rays were taken and measurements done to see if I was even a candidate for MMA).

What should I ask him? I feel pretty comfortable with him and the answers he's given me so far. I didn't care for the other local surgeon so I didn't go that route. I'm also very concerned with the recovery time. Is 4 weeks really right? I don't see how I can be away from work even with vacation and unpaid time off without losing my job in this economy. Has anyone experienced a return to work in less time (I'm a software developer so it's pretty much desk work)?

Thanks for any input.
