Hi, jimplasticguy,
Thanks for your input. I certainly agree about sleep hygiene--there was a time when I thought/hoped I could resolve all my issues just by self-discipline and following the guidelines you mentioned. At some point, I realized that this was not the case, and that's what started
me down the royal road to Dr. K.L. But I do make an effort not to look at the clock, etc.I think yesterday I was in transition from one narrative ("the recovery's been a breeze with absolutely no problems") to another ("there is an issue, and I have to take care of it"), in much the way that I transitioned from not wanting to confront the fact that I had sleep apnea to
realizing that I couldn't avoid taking action.I had septoplasty and turbinate reduction in May with another surgeon. The septoplasty seems to have been perfect; the turbinate reduction was pretty good, but may have left something to be desired.. After the MMA, which did big things everywhere, my turbinates got
worse. I often can't breathe at all through my left nostril. So Dr. K.L will do some further work there in a couple of weeks. Another surgery, but nothing in comparison with the MMA, and (most likely) no overnight stay in the hospital.I really don't know anything about neurology. But it does seem clear that my brain is not convinced that everything is okay yet in my airway. I'm hoping that the new turbinate reduction, combined with time and further swelling reduction, will stand me in good stead.
Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Who is your surgeon? With regard to insurance, I've found that it's just about impossible to beat the system. I live in the Bay Area and was able to get a GAP exception before the surgery, but I have no doubt that I'll have plenty of
roadblocks along the way.It sounds as if you're feeling a lot of stress. I don't know you, of course, but accepting that we are not in complete control of the process can be liberating for some people.
