After the mma surgery I mentioned that my RDI was the same but I did feel 50% better. Dr. Li suggested that I revisit the cpap. I was titrated at 11 cm and did a 2 month trial of it. To my shock and dismay, I found that due to my new jaw structure air would automatically escape out of my mouth causing me to wake up every 2 hours due to mouth dryness. I even used mouth taping and chin strap. I suspected that a bipap would alleviate this so I went back to Stanford and got a prescription for auto bipap which solved the air mouth leakage. I feel MUCH better with bipap than cpap but was never titrated on the bipap - the settings were based upon the cpap titration. I suspect the pressure setting needs to be increased as I am still have breathing events but the Stanford doc said give it time (I've been on it a month). At first I experienced REM rebound which really confused me into thinking that the machine was not working. For the first few weeks, I was so weak and tired and kept manipulating the settings (which the doc told me not to do) but now after a month I realize I was just paying off sleep debt.

The search continues!
