Buckthorn, I have been thinking a lot about this. I am a mechanical engineer who went into sales after some years, but am still focussed on the mechanical aspects of the body. It is the way I think. Some years ago, a study was done on the the postive effects of playing the didgeridoo on OSA. I know that sounds crazy. Anyway, it implied that the oropharyngeal excersise had very positive benefits. So I kept digging and found another study. Not sure if I can post the link, but I suggest you google:
Effects of Oropharyngeal Exercises on Patients withModerate Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome
I was wanting to speak to Dr KL about this and will when I see him, but I believe that a study on the positive effects of these type excersise on Post MMA patients (after healing), especially in those past mid 40's, would be very interesting. I wonder if they could improve the success numbers of the surgery. In my mind, it is similar to a heart patient after surgery needing to do good excersise for the rest of their lives, to keep the cardiovascular system healthy. I am not an expert. I wrote something up for the Dr, but decided not to overwhelm him with long emails before my surgery.
