I never had any problems breathing. I understand that some people are nervous about this before the surgery, but it was a complete non-issue for me. Think about this: the chances of your being left in a state in which you are unable to breathe are 0%. If you're really having problems, Dr KL will take off your rubber
bands. It will delay your recovery, but if that's what's necessary, they can do it. The chances of needing to do this, however, are very small. You'd have to ask Dr KL if it's even occurred before.

Regarding work from home--that's hard to say. I assume you've read the various blogs, so you can see that while some people have an easy time the first couple of weeks, most do not. I was able to do some small projects after about 10 days, around a couple of hours a day for a few days. If I would have had time
pressure and people dependent on me, it would have been quite stressful. I would say that for most people, the best thing to do would be to take as much time off as possible, up to at least 4 weeks. If you need to work, so be it, but my guess is that getting adequate rest will help your team more than rushing back.

You've done all the hard work. Making the decision to have surgery, getting pre-approval and dealing with insurance, preparing for an absence from work--these are all tough things to deal with. Now all you have to do is get on the plane, head out to the hospital, and let things play out as they will. I also made the
decision not to push myself, and I've never regretted that decision.

Good luck!
