Many have been initially denied insurance payment. Usually this takes a fight because they don't understand the procedure or what it's for. Make sure they know it's related to a breathing and airway disorder, not cosmetics or teeth.

Yes an insurance company has profit at stake, but they also do when another customer tries to get a procedure and that works to the benefit of you and others enrolled. Insurance companies will abide by their contract in 99.9% of the cases, but you have to show them. In the other cases, sue them. If there was a centralized government authority making the selection then cost/availability/necessity would be at stake.

The bottom line here:

#1 Don't piddle with surgeons who haven't done hundreds of MMA's FOR APNEA.

#2 Your insurance will be a fight just like everything else in this apnea world, so just dig your heals in and go to bat. It will be worth it.
