Like to share my personal experience with my MMA to treat my sleep apnea.
Similiar to most of the folks here, after doing several procedure (UPPP + turbinate reduction in 2002), soft palate somnoplasty/RF in 2006, CPAP from 2008, I finally took the decision to go for my mandibular advancement treatment - ie. advancing my lower jaw foward to hope that this will solve my OSA probelm for good.
The operation went pretty well, but the first 2 nights in ICU are pretty painful with the cheeks swelling and with the mouth wired shut, making swallowing saliva a bit of getting used to.
Now after 2 days since my Ops, I just been discharged from the hospital after my surgeon are happy with my ability to take in fluid.
Now, I just took a nap at home and recorded my sleep. unfortunately, I was still snoring very loudly through my nose...sigh. I hope this is because the swelling has not gone down.
Stay tune for more update. Would appreciate other members can share their initial experiences on their road to recover after the MMA operation as well.
