Posted by DesperateInAlabama on February 10, 2012 at 09:42:45:More specifically, in Alabama. And despite having the "premiere" individual health plan offered by the odious toads at Blue Cross/Blue Shield, I do not have sleep coverage. True story: BC/BS individual plans do not cover anything sleep related, ever! (Employer-provided insurance plans do (maybe?) but my employer doesn't offer benefits.)
My sad story: I'm 42, 5'8, 145, in excellent shape, perfect blood pressure, great vitals, etc. Unfortunately, my nose is too small, my tongue and uvula are (way) too large, my jawline is recessive, and my adenoids and tonsils need to go. All of this from an ENT and Pulmonologist within the last week, and a Sleep Disorders Specialist a few years ago.
I sleep two, maybe three hours per night. I wake up gasping, choking on my tongue. I have nearly zero quality of life, and I struggle just to maintain basic cognition during the day.
My case is so severe, CPAP does zippo.
So: any suggestions? Because I'm really very near the end of my rope.
