I realize sleep medicine is in its infancy, but we really need something better than AHI to quantify a person's sleep breathing problems.

Take 2 people, each one has complete airway collapse when asleep. They both fall asleep, airway collapses, they awaken, after some time period fall back asleep, repeat cycle.

It takes person #1 1 minute to fall back asleep, so their AHI is 60, very bad.
It takes person #2 10 minutes to fall asleep, their AHI is 6, moderate.

I fall into the person #2 category, and several others I've talked to over the years including one just the other day. His low AHI was preventing him from getting aggressive treatment.

I'm not a Dr and don't want to be one, just a concerned patient that hates to see so many people go through this.
