The percentage of time in the various sleep stages is pretty vital. Lowest o2 is important, as is something like average o2 or percentage of time spent below a certain threshold--I've seen people use 85%.

I also like the analogy with cholesterol. What's interesting is that after 50 years, there's *still* no definitive answer to what the important cholesterol numbers are. (Is it a subset of LDL or HDL? Is it ApoB ? People don't agree.)

The one number that I think actually is pretty meaningless is the AHI. Divide it into apnea index and something else.
