ENT wants to do 3 procedures

I was refered to an ENT, Dr PC at UAB. He is cutting edge and is also a professor there. I liked everythig about him, and he seemed to have read up on my case before seeing me. He scoped me and is very convinced that he's found my blockage. He diagnosed me with laryngomalacia which is a flaccid airway in the oropharyngeal area (i think thats the area). He has 3 procedures that he wants to perform, neither which i know anythig about. 1-Supraglottoplasty 2-fibrocutaneous advancement flap 3-tongue base epilatexy. I think the supraglottoplasty is a very recent procedure.

I actually am set for the surgery on Nov-12, but am now kinda reeling as it seems no one has heard of these procedures. Why hasnt this been recommended/discovered before from all the other drs visits ive had, with some being ENT's? Actually, the supraglottoplasty is used in transgendered males to feminize the voice....thats all i could find out about it on the net. Not good, i cant afford another strike against my hypernasal voice. As it is now, Im lucky to have a deepish voice so i can kinda hide the nasality some.
This is where there should be a protocal that all professions can follow. Any ideas appreciated.
