ranting!

Posted by Allison Rokko on January 17, 2001 at 10:24:21:

Hi,

This message is about ranting about my situation.
I had a sleep test about two years ago, in which I did Not sleep and was diagnosed with insomnia! The pulmonologist insists my waking up choking is from asthma and reflux. The gastronterologist has done inthose two years about 8 test, all showing that my reflux is very mild and hardly to blame for my symptoms. (And he claims the sleep study shoud be repeated) THe ENT says that I have anlarged linglual tonsils, narrow airway and very possibley sleep apnea. But apparently the pulmonologist is the only one who can order the sleep study, and the other two docs won't go "over her head" to order one, just out of fear of contradicting her (I believe). I take reflux meds "just incase" and lots of asthma meds. My asthma tests came out right the last time, but still she refuses. I've even gone out of my non-assertive waysnto ask for it, but she says we have to give the asthma meds time to act (isn't one month enough?).
How do I get out of this mess? Although I can choose the specialist one my PCP gives me a referral, for thismproblem he sent me to this particular doctor. I'm going nuts, I was top of my class and now I can't study for more than 10 continous minutes, I've been to couseling, antidepressants and I dont know what else to do.

Sorry for the ranting

Ally
